CarePros

CarePros is a social enterprise addressing a critical gap in Alberta’s care system: the shortage of licensed, community-based housing for individuals with complex needs. Children, youth, and adults with developmental disabilities, trauma, and high-acuity behavioral challenges often face challenges accessing appropriate, stable placements, and may experience transitions through temporary, emergency, or unsupported settings. Demand continues to outpace available capacity, with hundreds of individuals across Alberta awaiting transition into appropriate community-based environments.

CarePros develops and operates licensed homes that provide safe, stable environments where individuals can heal, grow, and thrive. Through 24/7 wraparound support and trauma-informed care, these homes enable individuals to transition into community-based settings, improving long-term outcomes while supporting broader system capacity across health, housing, and social services. To date, CarePros has supported hundreds of individuals with complex needs through these environments.

Since 2016, CarePros has scaled across Alberta, creating over 1,700 jobs and delivering more than $60 million in wages, while serving a large proportion of Indigenous individuals and families through culturally responsive care.

Support from Social Enterprise Fund has been instrumental in enabling this impact. Funding is directly deployed into the acquisition and development of licensed residential homes, increasing the number of safe placements available for individuals who may otherwise remain in temporary, shelter-based, or unstable living situations.

Each new home represents immediate, measurable impact, translating capital into stabilized placements, improved quality of care, and increased capacity within the broader system of care.

CarePros continues to expand this model through its broader platform, including Purposeful Properties and Nurture, its proprietary case management system, to further scale impact across jurisdictions.
